Privacy Policy

Capsoul ("we", "our", or "us") is a private time-capsule app that lets you seal memories and unlock them in the future. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information — your email address, optional phone number, display name, avatar URL, user ID, sign-in method, and account timestamps.
• Authentication information — email verification codes, password reset tokens, Apple sign-in identifiers if you choose Apple sign-in, and related security metadata needed to operate your account.
• Capsule content — title, text, emotion tags or custom emotion design, photos, videos, voice recordings, uploaded files, music references, optional location labels, and capsule unlock timing.
• Recipient information — recipient email addresses, phone numbers, user IDs, delivery status, and opening status for shared capsules.
• Device and notification information — push notification tokens, device platform, app environment, and notification delivery records used to send capsule, invite, cancellation, and account messages.
• Optional location information — if you add a place to a capsule, we store the place name and coordinates you choose. Capsoul does not continuously track your location.
• Optional AI/music request information — if you use music recommendation features, we may send capsule mood/context prompts to our CloudBase function to generate recommendations.
• Operational records — database records, email/SMS outbox entries, error information, and basic service logs needed to run, secure, and troubleshoot Capsoul.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create, authenticate, and secure your account.
• To store your capsules and deliver them to you or your selected recipients when the unlock conditions are met.
• To support shared capsules, including recipient verification, invitations, opening progress, cancellation notices, and unlock notifications.
• To upload, store, retrieve, and display capsule media and attachments.
• To send email verification codes, password reset emails, invitation emails, SMS messages, and push notifications.
• To enable on-device Face ID / biometric gating when you choose to use it. Biometric credentials stay on your device and are not sent to us.
• To provide optional music recommendation and poster/mood features.
• To prevent abuse, diagnose issues, maintain service reliability, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing.

3. Data Storage and Service Providers

Capsoul currently uses Tencent CloudBase and related Tencent Cloud services to operate the app. This includes CloudBase authentication support, CloudBase database, CloudBase HTTP functions, CloudBase or Tencent Cloud Object Storage for media, Tencent Cloud SMS, Tencent Cloud email services, and CloudBase AI where enabled. Push notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service (APNs).

Your capsule data is protected by access controls so that only the sender and designated recipients can access the capsule according to the app's rules. For shared capsules, contents are not revealed until all required recipients have opened the capsule.

Capsoul no longer uses Firebase as its production backend.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Your account and associated capsules remain stored until you delete them or delete your account. You can request account deletion from within the app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing us at the address below. After a verified deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your account data and associated capsule content within 30 days, unless we are required to keep limited records for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

Some transient records, such as verification codes, reset tokens, and delivery logs, are kept only as long as needed to operate and secure the service.

5. Children's Privacy

Capsoul is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6. Third-Party Services

We use Tencent CloudBase and related Tencent Cloud services to provide backend, storage, email, SMS, and AI functionality, and Apple Push Notification service to send push notifications. These service providers process information only as needed to provide Capsoul's app functionality. We do not include third-party advertising SDKs.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time through the app where available, or by contacting us. You may choose not to add optional media, location, music, or recipient information. You can also disable push notifications in your device settings.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email when appropriate. Continued use of Capsoul after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
